Get ready to put on your dancing shoes and your craziest socks because we’re hosting a Crazy Sock Hop Dance on March 29th, and you’re invited!

Date: March 29th

Time: 6:30 – 9:00pm

Location: Churchill Park United Church – 525 Beresford Avenue

This Sock Hop is not your average dance party; it’s going to be super fun and full of energy! We encourage you to bring along a friend or two to join in on the excitement. It’s open to individuals with Down syndrome (and their friends!) aged 18 and over.

We’re embracing the spirit of the Sock Hop, so make sure to wear your wildest, most colourful socks! Let’s show off our unique styles and dance the night away.

Tickets are available for just $10 each, and they include snacks and unlimited dancing!  Support workers can attend free of charge.

And the best part? We’ve got MJ the DJ on deck to keep the music pumping and the dance floor rocking all night long.

Parent Coffee and ChatTopic: Moving Out

While your loved ones dance the night away, we invite parents to join us for a relaxed coffee and chat session in a separate area of the venue.

This session is for parents and caregivers navigating or considering the transition of their loved one with Down syndrome into an assisted living situation. Whether you’re in the early stages of planning or have already gone through this journey, this is an opportunity to connect, ask questions, and share your experiences.

Are you a parent or caregiver wondering what it’s like to help your loved one with Down syndrome transition into an assisted living situation? Or have you already been through this journey and want to share what you’ve learned?

We’re looking for parents who have guided their child through moving out to share their experiences. Your insights could be invaluable to those preparing for this transition. If you’re open to speaking informally about your journey, please reply to this email or contact us at 204-992-2731.

What to Expect:
– Real stories from parents who have guided their child through moving out
– A chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and share feelings
– Moderation by Lois Brothers from Inclusion Winnipeg
– A supportive, welcoming space to connect with others
– Refreshments and light snacks provided

We look forward to an evening of coming together, learning from each other, and strengthening our wonderful community.
