Social Club Volunteers Needed!

Our social clubs are looking for volunteers, ages 16 or older, to join in the fun!!

Our Social Clubs are for young people with Down syndrome to have fun and socialize with others their age.  Participants engage in a variety of activities ranging from sports such as basketball to karaoke, right in our own venue!  The clubs are held in Church of the Way on Lilac street (off of Grant Avenue).  Each night is sure to be a fun and exciting engagement for both youth and club staff.  And we would love for you to join the team!

Volunteer Job Description

Arrive by 7:00 pm and remain on site until the end of the evening, typically ending by 9:30pm; generally there are two gatherings per month

Assist staff by engaging club participants in activities- including group activities, solo activities, and participant-led activities.  Examples of activities could include games, karaoke, crafts, or sports.

Assist staff and/or participants with snack preparation; volunteers are welcome to partake in snack.

Attend social club outings.  Volunteers will be reimbursed for necessary costs of the outing (such as admission).

Volunteers over 18 years of age may be required to submit criminal record (including vulnerable sector search) and child abuse checks.  MDSS will reimburse the costs associated with this.

Social clubs run September through June.  We are seeking volunteers interested in committing to the year, after which volunteers may receive a letter of recommendation if requested.
